Andy Kind appearing at FF2012

Comedian Andy Kind has been confirmed to appear on the Saturday evening at Firm Foundations 2012.

From Andy's website:

"Andy Kind is a professional stand-up comedian. He has been part of the comedy circuit since January 2005. In that time he has performed all over the country, winning awards and acclaim as he goes. Since winning Anything for Laffs, he has gone on to be recognised as one of the warmest and most engaging comperes in British comedy.

Described by The Scotsman as 'terrific' and by BBC online as 'a future star', Andy has been featured on BBC1, ITV, Channel 4 and national radio. In addition, he has been asked to support the likes of Tim Vine and Milton Jones on their national tours.

Andy is also a published author, with his first book (Stand Up and Deliver) published by Monarch Books in April 2011. His next book, Grandad, was due to be finished late on in 2011.

Andy's comedy blends joyful exuberance with the playful ranting of a man on the wrong side of 30. Add to this a love of ad-libbing and super-strong stage presence, and you have the prospect of a great night's entertainment."

You can follow Andy on Twitter at @andykindcomedy or check out his Facebook fan page here. You can also check out Andy's website at www.andykind.co.uk.

Tuning in to the word of God

Around 750 people attended this year's Firm Foundations (FF) and learnt how the Bible is still relevant today.

The festival, organised jointly by BB and Girls' Brigade England & Wales, took place over the spring bank holiday weekend at Felden Lodge, Hemel Hempstead.

'It was a brilliant weekend,' says Eric Hudson, on behalf of the Festival Planning Team. 'The Holy Spirit was definitely at work and it was exciting to see so many young people giving their lives to God or developing their relationship with Him.'

The theme for the event was 'Tune in to the message' - based on Bible verse 2 Timothy Ch.3:16 'Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another - showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way' (The Message).

The event focused on showing how Jesus, through the Bible, has relevant things to say on current issues and encouraged young people to explore their Bibles regularly.

Many young people took steps of faith throughout the weekend and enjoyed action-packed worship sessions led by singer/songwriter/speaker and author Shell Perris, BB officer Matt Legg, evangelist Mark Greenwood from 40:3 Trust and Phil Knox, Missions Resource Manager for Youth for Christ and BB officer.

The weekend also offered a wide range of inspiring seminars and numerous sporting activities from canoeing and archery to football and abseiling.

There was also a vast array of entertainments including a 'silent' disco called Ministry of Silence, talent show, quizzes, worship workout sessions and an innovative competition called Campsite Come Dine With Me.

A new venue called PLAY offered festival-goers a place to play on game consoles, chat or watch films and Christian bands GoldDigger, Sounds of Salvation, Fire Brand and Empire Nation were among those who wowed the crowds over the course of the weekend.

Eric adds 'There were lots of activities on offer over the weekend and it was great to see these so well supported. People also had lots of time to relax and socialise.

'Plus, we were really blessed by the dry weather - there was hardly a welly boot in sight!'

Check out some comments from the weekend below...

'It was my first FF this year and I loved it. It was amazing and I will definitely be coming next year.'

'It was an amazing year at FF and has brought me so much closer to God - amazing worship, amazing friends and just all together unforgettable.'

'Our boys loved every minute of it and didn't want to go home.'

'I hope that everyone who found God this year at FF will continue in small steps to bring Him into their life. God is amazing. Come on!'

'Our girls loved the whole event and they haven't stopped talking about the Ministry of Silence. Everyone thought that was great!'

'FF was awesome. Can't wait for next year.'
