Bands
GoldDigger
GoldDigger will perform on the Saturday night of Firm Foundations 2010.
Golddigger are a high-energy electro-rock band fronted by Mandy Toombs and Beth Taylor.
Golddigger draw on an eclectic collection of influences, ranging from Blondie to Florence and the Machine to create a truly unique and contemporary sound
Their songs look at topics such as self-harm and media pressures, as well as giving positive messages about relationships and finding true happiness through a relationship with God.
Golddigger have come into critical acclaim as well as playing with other well-known acts such as thebandwithnoname, LZ7, Yfriday, The Steels and others.
Chip K, from thebandwithnoname, says ‘ Golddigger are awesome. These girls are passionate about Jesus and full of potential to reach the youth of the UK with the good news. They're all about presenting the message of Jesus in a way that makes sense to an MTV saturated culture. We need more bands like this in the charts!’

The group will be performing releases from their new album As Surely As I Breathe exclusively for Firm Foundations.
The band is made up of guitarist and lead vocalist Ben Lawrence, bass guitarist and vocalist Daniel Lawrence and drummer Dicky Baxter.
Their songs have melodic bass and vocal driven verses and powerful choruses.
We caught up with Brokenfor for a quick chat...
What are you most looking forward to about Firm Foundations 2010? The chance to meet new people, spreading God’s word and listening to some other great acts!
This year’s theme is iCan – based on Philippians 4:13 – what does this mean to you personally? As a band, we’ve been together for almost eight years. We started out as amateur instrument players who happened to be friends. Even though we were (to be honest) rubbish when we first started we knew that if we kept trying we could make it somewhere and do what we wanted to do because with God we can do anything! This verse tells us to go out and try as hard as we can because through God all things are possible, even when we feel weak He is our strength.
Do you have any hidden talents? Apparently Dicky can make any song he hears into a song about food, mmm tasty!
If your house was on fire and you could only grab three things before leaving, what would they be? Answers from the three of us range from our instruments, computers, parents and a phone to call the fire brigade (handy)!
Who is the person you respect the most, and why? We respect all those who stand up for Christ in outstanding ways. We don’t think we could limit it to one person.
What do you think the greatest invention is in your lifetime, and why? Ben says he quite likes the ‘10 Second Kettle’.....

NlighteN
NlighteN will headline the Sunday night of Firm Foundations 2010.
NlighteN have been likened as a Christian version of Coldplay and their sound has been said to be worthy of mainstream airplay.
The indie-rock band have a desire to see their music energise and affect lives for God.
When and where did you become a Christian?
Tim says 'As we all grew up going to church it's always difficult to really say when or how we decided to follow Christ in our lives. I've thought about this a lot, especially when you hear people's great and amazing testimonies of conversion, which makes mine seem like a boring I've always gone to church... story. This was until I came across Mark Ch.4:26-29. I suddenly felt like my choice to follow Christ was actually valid, as the Kingdom seed was planted in me many years ago. Over the years, I'm not totally sure how, it's developed and grown and now it's so big in my life, it's my whole life. That's probably the best way to explain how I came to follow the way of Jesus.
This year's theme is iCan - based on Philippians 4:13 - what does this mean to you personally?
Sarah says 'I think this is one of my favourite verses in the Bible, it reminds me that I have a father in heaven who is far greater than any problem we face. It's interesting if you read the verses leading up to this one as it talks about not worrying about anything, instead praying about everything and focusing our minds on what is true and honourable. I believe if we do this, if our mind is focused on God and the positive things that He has done for us, then we truly can do anything through Him.'
What are you most looking forward to about Firm Foundations 2010?
We're currently working on our new album and it will be great to play some of our new songs.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
If we could have any superpower we would manipulate time and space like Hiro from Heroes who is our hero! Or we would be like Dr Manhattan who can manipulate the frequency of matter - we think! Either way it would include manipulated space, time or matter!
What do you think the greatest invention is in your lifetime, and why?
Apart from the internet: USB 2.0. Before this it was a nightmare connecting printers and keyboards. We’re not sure how this works, only that the drivers are held on the little device somehow. Dave thinks GPS is the greatest invention (until it turns sinister!).

You wouldn't be caught dead, where?
I'm a massive Aston Villa fan so... in a Birmingham City shirt.
If your house was on fire and you could only grab three things before leaving, what would they be?
My stuffed rabbit I've had since I was born (can't believe I just wrote that!), my wallet and my wife.
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
My mum is totally amazing - she has sacrificed so much for the kingdom of God and totally puts others first and doesn't seek credit for herself.
What do you think the greatest invention is in your lifetime, and why?
The internet is amazing - I mean... where is it?!
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Driven a car into a house.

Matt Summerfield
Matt Summerfield, executive director of Urban Saints, has just been confirmed as a worship speaker at FF.
What are you most looking forward to about Firm Foundations 2010?
The privilege of enthusing about Jesus and the word of God to young people - inspiring them to live an adventurous faith for Christ.
You wouldn’t be caught dead, where?
In the middle of the Atlantic ocean surrounded by hoards of Great White Sharks.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I used to break-dance 25 years ago - and I still 'bust' the odd move. I also play drums.
If your house was on fire and you could only grab three things before leaving, what would they be?
Other than my wife and two children - my laptop, my Bible and a very large water hose attached to the mains.
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
That's a really tough question. There are loads of people I respect. Mostly the silent heroes who will never be 'big names' and never speak on 'main stages' - the real soldiers in the faith who get on with it silently, lovingly - allowing Christ to transform so that they can transform others.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Despite a considerable fear of heights I did a high ropes course at a youth camp in the USA a couple of years ago which ended with a bungy swing drop. My sons told me they could hear me scream from 3,000 miles away.

In a rollercoaster seat, strapped in and unable to get out.
Do you have any hidden talents?
One break dancing move and folding my tongue in a weird way!
If your house was on fire and you could only grab three things before leaving, what would they be?
My husband Phil, my teddy bear Alan and some food to calm the nerves!
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
My husband Phil as he has amazing integrity and absolutely, whole-heartedly, loves God.
Matt Legg
BB officer Matt Legg will be hosting worship venue V1 at Firm Foundations, alongside singer/songwriter Shell Perris. Matt is a part of BB band KJC.
When and where did you become a Christian?
I became a Christian while at university in Portsmouth. I'd been amazed at the faith of some Palestinian Christian children that I met in the Lake District and knew that I had to get to church once back in Pompey! I did and God met with me in the most powerful way that has literally changed my life for eternity!
This year's theme is iCan - based on Philippians 4:13 - what does this mean to you personally?
In my walk with God, He has brought me through amazing difficulties and challenges that I simply couldn't have done, figured out or come out the other side of in my own strength! I know that all things are possible with Jesus as He is such a personal Saviour that cares for every situation I face. AMEN!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
To be able to fire banana skins from my wrists. Comes in handy on the tube to clear those tourists out the way!
If your house was on fire and you could only grab three things before leaving, what would they be?
If my wife is reading this then number one would be my wife. If not then 1) my keyboard 2) my laptop and 3) my iPod.
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
My Mum and Dad, because I was brought up to... or else!
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Mooning three coach loads of old pensioners in the Sierra Norte mountains in central Spain. Magic.

This year's theme is iCan - based on Philippians 4:13 - what does this mean to you personally?
'Through Christ' is the focus rather than 'all things'.
You wouldn’t be caught dead, where?
In a funeral parlour.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Not sure what my 'non hidden ones' are.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I'd love to fly.
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
After God, it's my Dad because of his disciplined life and passion for God at the age of 70.
What do you think the greatest invention is in your lifetime, and why?
My iPhone! That says it all.

Shell Perris
Singer, songwriter, speaker and author Shell Perris will be one of the hosts in V1 at this year’s festival. Shell is a Trustee of Girls' Brigade Ministries.
When and where did you become a Christian?
At the age of 15 I was diagnosed with an eating disorder and told I had eight weeks left to live. I'd been told about Jesus by a YFC youth worker in my school and after Jesus gave me a glimpse of His unconditional love for me I became a follower of Jesus while sat on my bed in my bedroom. Since then He has continued to transform my life in ways beyond my wildest dreams!
What are you most looking forward to about Firm Foundations 2010?
I LOVE FF!!! I'm simply looking forward to spending time with some top quality people and seeing God do some amazing things! The thing I'm secretly looking forward to the most is the girls' night on Sunday!
This year's theme is iCan - based on Philippians 4:13 - what does this mean to you personally?
Over the years as I've walked with Jesus I've realised on an ever increasing basis that when I can't - God can! This year in particular God has been teaching me about losing control and allowing Him to work through me in ways beyond my imagination... and that's exactly what He's been doing! It's risky and scary at times but it's sooooooo worth it!
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Without question the person I respect the most is my gorgeous hubby, Tim! He has this amazing way of bringing out the best in me. He keeps me grounded, supports me whole-heartedly and would do anything for me. Without him I would be incomplete.
What do you think the greatest invention is in your lifetime, and why?
The internet. I think I was about 13 when the internet became popular and now I couldn't live without it! I use it every day without fail. I don't know how the world would survive without it!
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
I left college halfway through my A-Levels because I felt God told me to. I didn't know why I had to leave but, fortunately, God did! If I hadn't left college then, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now. If you want to know more you'll just have to buy my autobiography, Made To Be Me!
